Obituary for Richard Nash

NASH, RICHARD A

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard (Rick) Nash announces his sudden passing on Saturday, August 12th, 2017 at the age of 70.

Rick was born in Shamokin PA in 1947. He graduated from Shamokin High and then went on to get a bachelors degree at Penn State University. After college he served a term in the Army and moved to Tacoma WA.

He was a local truck driver for Yellow Freight Systems and played a role in organizing the teamsters union in that company as their union representative. He retired from yellow freight and spent the rest of his life doing the things he enjoyed most, drinking beer, eating good food and visiting with the family.

He took pride in his yard and grew beautiful flowers and vegetables. These he shared with special friends and neighbors. He also loved his small projects, crossword puzzles and Sudoku. He was a member of the Eagles Club and always went there to have lunch with the regulars on Fridays.

He was a very generous person. He supported the march of dimes for many years. He was always there for someone in need.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his ex wife Marlena Nash and his children Michelle Schaaf. Jesse Nash (wife Gwen), and Sean Nash (wife Jennifer). He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Kenyen Lapp, Ivy Ann May, Gunner Nash, Charlotte Nash and Christopher Schaaf.

The celebration of his life will take place on Saturday September 2nd at 2:00. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the Tacoma Rescue Mission or Salvation Army. Casual dress at event.. For location please call....253-224-1143. Please leave a message.
