Obituary for Allan Lund

Allan Gunnar Lund, 80, died March 18 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karin (Fredrickson) Lund; his sons Bryce A. (Sue), and Gregory J. (Kirsten); and siblings Jim Lund, Sylvia Larson, Marjorie Lovrak, and Karin Temple, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Al was born in Bountiful, Utah, December 18, 1936 to Nils and Ebba Lund. The family moved to Tacoma, Washington in the early 1940s where Nils established the Lund Floral Company. After graduating from University of Washington with a Bachelor’s degree in business, Allan bought Lund Floral Company from his father in 1967. At its peak, Lund Floral Company had five locations in the Tacoma/Seattle area.
Known for creative floral design, he could use flowers to create anything from a rainbow trout to a Cessna airplane. Lund Floral designs graced countless courtships, weddings, offices, prom gowns, hospital rooms and funerals. Fresh flowers were donated weekly to his church as an act of worship.
He served as choir director at Lakewood Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed accompanying congregational hymns with his trumpet, and performing in solos and ensembles. Al also served as an adult Sunday School teacher, superintendent, and as a deacon for many years.
Faith was woven into everything he did. Al loved memorizing scripture and sharing meaningful verses with friends, staff, and acquaintances. Many remember his ready smile, sense of humor, and kindness. Memorial gifts may be made to Praise Covenant Church, Tacoma, Washington.
