Obituary for Margaret Putnam

Margaret  Putnam
Margaret Hoadley Gildea Putnam, 82, passed away January 6, 2016, after a short illness, surrounded by family. Born June 3, 1933, in Bloomington, IN, she was a graduate of University High School and Indiana University (BA ’57, MA ’69).
Margaret taught elementary school for more than twenty years in Indianapolis, IN, and Tacoma, WA. She was active in PEO and the United Methodist Church. "Meg" enjoyed gardening, hiking, travel, golf, and playing bridge. She was extremely active supporting many charitable organizations and was always involved to make her community better and reach out to help those in need.
Margaret was predeceased by husband Richard Putnam, son Gregory, parents John A. and Helen Hoadley, and brother John E. (Jack) Hoadley.
Survivors include daughter Sarah (Dan) Sieradzki of Parma, OH; sons Jeff Gildea of Indianapolis, IN; and Brad (Debbie) Gildea of New Braunfels, TX; stepchildren Sally (Jim) Cave of Edgewood, WA; Kathy Collings of New Albany, IN; David Putnam of Tacoma, WA; and Amy Cheuvront of Kalispell, MT. Additional survivors include sister Martie (John Carson) Hoadley of Des Moines, WA; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held January 30, 2016, at 10 a.m., at Fircrest United Methodist Church, 1018 Columbia Ave., Fircrest, WA 98466; phone (253) 564-7862. Memorial gift contributions may be made to the church, where she was actively involved. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Chambersville Cemetery near Spencer, IN.
