Obituary for Arnold Kauk

Arnold Kauk
Arnold Kauk
8/15/1951-5/2/2015
Our dad, Arnold Kauk known as either Arnie, ‘Ornery’ Arnie or ‘Awesome’ Arnie to his friends and family was born in Eureka SD. He peacefully passed away at his home on May 2. He graduated from Forbes High School in 1970. Arnie started his career at Western Gear in Jamestown ND where he met his beautiful wife Jannelle Lindstrom, who he married July 29, 1973 in Fargo ND. He then proudly spent four years serving his country as an Aviation Fire Control Technician in the US Navy and was stationed in NAS Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, WA. When we say proudly served, we mean it! Not a day went by that our dad didn’t mention his support and respect for Veterans. In 1974 he embarked on the biggest journey of his life and started a family. Arnie is survived by his daughter Cori Walters and son Ryan Kauk. From 1977-1993 our dad worked for Unisys Corporation and POS Data.
Our dad developed life-long friendships through work, sports and his favorite watering hole. He loved watching sport (especially Seattle teams,) camping and spending time with his family. Our dad did not miss any of our sporting events and spent endless hours watching the same gymnastic routine, cheering at soccer, basketball and volleyball games. He nervously watched wrestling matches and dedicated just about every weekend of his life playing softball or watching us play softball. Whenever anyone in the family needed help with a move (there were lots), yard projects, building something or stacking wood he was the first to show up with his truck. He was a man of few words but his consistent presence said a lot. He had a twinkle in his eye and a smirk of a smile that expressed his love.
Our dad is also survived by his wife Jannelle Kauk, sister Gloria Larson and brother in law John Larson of Independence MO. He is preceded in death by his father Robert Kauk, mother Erma Kauk and brother Harvey Kauk. For those wishing to honor our dad with a donation please consider making a contribution to the Hazelwood YMCA in Silverdale. Our dad will be greatly missed.
